Instant Meditation - Six Simple Steps For Relieving Stress

By Douglas Robert

Stress is something that affects us all. There’s just no way to avoid it. But it need not be debilitating either. You don’t need to eliminate stress from your life.

Some stress, like an approaching deadline can serve you well by enhancing your productivity. What you do need is to be able to manage stress so it doesn’t get the best of you. Not enough stress can leave you feeling uninvolved or bored. But too much stress wears you down, weakens your immune system, leaves you feeling less than your best, while making you less effective in your actions.

To relieve stress and to prevent it from building up, try meditation. Meditation is quick, 100% natural, and will ease your burden and recharge your batteries at the same time. You’ll notice the calming effect of meditation almost immediately.

1. Breathing is the key and it’s the first step to effective meditation. Whenever you notice stress affecting you, begin to take several deep breaths — in and out, slowly, comfortably, and deeply. Concentrate on the quality of your breathing. Just slow down and take in plenty of oxygen to rejuvenate your body and mind.

2. Sit up straight. A balanced posture with your head up and your back straight is best. You’ll notice that most people who are stressed out have a slumped posture, with their head down and and a frown on their face. A better posture can make a noticeable improvement immediately.

3. Clear your thoughts. Begin to imagine that you are floating in space or on water. If on water, feel the gentle movements of the waves in your consciousness. Just enjoy this peaceful and imaginary moment and you’ll begin at once to ease all you stress and anxiety. Allow your body to feel the sensation of floating freely.

4. Acknowledge your stress and its root cause. This is an important step. Denying stress in the meditation process isn’t helpful as it will surely reappear. But reexamining how you choose to react can make a huge difference in your life. Understand the reality of stress and your capacity to handle it by thinking clearly and finding workable solutions.

5. Realize that you’re in complete control of your stress levels. Whatever has happened is done. You can deal with it in a positive way. Control your mind and you automatically dissolve much of the stress you’re feeling.

6. Finally, accept that you have the right to peace of mind and freedom of thought. Nobody can ever take this from you. Realize this universal truth as you end the meditation process. Every time you feel stressed out, remember that peace of mind and freedom of thought is yours always.

Remember these simple steps and take charge whenever stress pushes you. Meditation is a powerful tool you can use any time to ease the stress and tension naturally. And all it takes is a few minutes of your time.
