Written agreements are useful for workers for ensuring you value and look after yourself whilst dealing with stress. If your dealing with the issues which are impacting you and you want to set goals which give you useful steps to follow it is essential that you write them out and start to think about how you are going to stay on track. They are therefore a powerful visual evidence of your valuing your self.
What to put in a written agreement
- Declaration of what you want to achieve
- Areas you have identified as being important to you
- A vow or oath that you have made with your self to ensure you achieve your wellbeing
- Markers to let you know when you have achieved your aims
- An understanding of what you will do to support reaching your goals
- A contingency plan
What not to put in a written agreement
- Things that you know are not achievable and will cause you more stress
- Other people’s issues which you take on as your own
- Negative and destructive aims
Before you complete you written agreement concerning work place stress think about the following
- If you were not suffering form work place stress what would life look like for you
- What successes would you like to achieve?
- What are the most important things in your life?
Finally sign and date your written agreement and include a date which it will be reviewed, put it in your diary and make sure you stay on track to achieve your stress free life.
