Surviving The Rat Race By Utilizing Stress Management Skills

“The Stress Free Rat”
You know the feeling all too well. Sunday night you can’t sleep, dreading the following day. Maybe it’s a deadline thats due or a presentation your ill prepared for. We have all been there. In many cases, a little too often. So whats the solution? In most cases, we simply ignore the issue and deal with the situation when it presents itself. Only guaranteeing the same event to happen the following day, week or weekend.
There are things you can do to better the situation and break this unhealthy cycle. We must first overcome the actual emotional feeling that causes our stress, in most cases it’s one of those nasty four letter ‘F’ words…….Fear. Fear provides most everyday “joe’s” a guaranteed ticket on the Stress Express.
..Fear of the Unknown
…..Fear of Failure
………Fear of Looking Bad
Think back at about every situation you’ve ever come across where your friend Fear came along for a ride. Maybe a presentation you had to give to your Boss on a new way to do things. You likely stressed for days prior to the event. Worrying about how you would look. Worrying about how you would sound. Well guess what, you gave the presentation and still lived through it.
We’ve all heard the snippet of John F Kennedys great speech where he provided the infamous quote.
“The only thing to Fear is Fear itself”
Such a simple statement. Such an obvious set of words. But just imagine if you removed Fear from any event that had you Stressed out. Would you have performed better? Would you have had a happier day the day before?
Try removing Fear from your next scheduled Stressful situation and see what happens. You’ve already tried it the other way and you know how that turns out.
