Having That Frazzled Feeling? 3 Wonderfully Aromatic Blends To Relax Body And Mind

The wonderfully fragrant essential oils distilled from flowers, leaves, and other aromatic parts of plants have been used for healing for thousands of years.

Many of the oils used in ancient times have been scientifically tested for their medicinal and therapeutic values and have shown to have anti microbial, anti fungal, anti viral, having effects on the endocrine system, the cardiovascular system and many more.

The oils have a very complex constituents which is impossible to duplicate synthetically.

I’d like to make a special mention of the effects the essential oils have on our psyche.

There are 2 ways for the oils to get to our brain. One is by inhaling the aroma, and the other is through absorption via the skin or mucous membranes.

Having an aromatherapy massage may be one of the best, and most pleasant ways to enjoy the healing benefits of the aromatic oils. Other way can be using a diffuser at home, or in the car, or taking a bath with a few selected oils. Selecting the appropriate oils is both an art and a science, but one of the most important factors is that it has to be a fragrance that is pleasing to you.

Here are a few blends that are very relaxing and “grounding” for when one is feeling uptight or frazzled. Use the ones that have the most pleasing scent to you and feel free to experiment with the ratios of the different essences.

When feeling Anxious and Tense.

Lavender oil 15 drops

Sandalwood 15 drops

Base oil: 1 ounce. (for massage)

You can also add Clary Sage and/or Patchouli if you wish while keeping the total

amount of essential oil the same

When feeling Ungrounded and Unsafe.

Vetiver 20 drops

Patchouli 10 drops

OR, Frankincense 10 drops

Base oil: 1 ounce (for massage)

Before purchasing Vetiver, make sure you get the sniff test. Vetiver is
an oil that people either love, or they can’t stand. This blend is heavy and “smokey” very grounding and nurturing. If you have an aromatherapy necklace where you can add a drop or two, this blend will keep you more leveled and balanced throughout the day.

Knock-Out Formula I call this the knock-out formula since it is the one blend that puts more people to sleep than any other blend I’ve ever used.

It is a simple blend, and the oils are very reasonably priced:

Lavender 15 drops

Mandarin 15 drops

Base oil: 1 ounce (For Massage)

Wonderful at night on your pillow, or for your Therapeutic Massage

Other ways to enjoy the oils is by dropping a few drops on a handkerchief that you place on your pillow. (Some oils may cause stains)

You can place a few drops on your wash-cloth and briskly rub your body at the end of your shower. If you live in a climate where you use radiators, you can place a cotton ball with a few drops of aromatic oil onto the radiator and allow the essence to permeate the room.

This is especially good to do with some of the oils with anti viral properties if someone in the household has a cold.
