How Having A Break Can Conquer Workplace Stress
By Gareth Selby
Gee, I really enjoy my time away from work. As a matter of fact I enjoy it too much. I really enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and my family. Once my little break from work is over, I am always ready to give 110% in the working world.
Since taking a break from work is one of my favorite pastimes, this is what I want to discuss with you right now.
As you know, we live in a world which demands alot from us in both our working and personal life. Some of us go full speed ahead in both of these areas that we don’t allow ourselves the necessary break or “time out” that we need.
I believe it is great to give 110% in all areas of our life; however the results you produce can be counterproductive if you don’t give your body a little rest. Even tennis players have rest breaks during their matches, so their bodies are recharged and refreshed. The same thing is done with professional boxers.
The benefits from taking a break from your work include:
1. Increased productivity in the workplace.
2. Reduced stress levels.
3. Reduction in illnesses, such as ulcers and migraines.
4. You will feel refreshed and recharged.
5. You will produce better results at work.
6. Overall happiness in all areas of your life.
I suggest you plan a nice holiday once a year for a well deserved break from work, however you can plan mini-breaks from your busy life. This can include taking little weekend trips or something as simple as going to the movies, spending time with friends and family and going to a nice restaurant. I urge you on your mini-break to fully enjoy yourself and to forget about your problems. Also make your mini-break feel like a special occasion.
Planning your mini-breaks is simple. Just plan 2 nights a week where you will have an enjoyable break from your work and your personal life.
Once you have these mini-breaks on a regular basis, you will come out of it a more, satisfied, happier and productive person.
