The Perfect End To The Imperfect Day
By Lynda Earl
Have you ever had one of those days that takes a grown woman to her knees and makes you ready to go for the throat of anything else that comes your way? Do you need a time out? Well have I got a prescription for you. Now this one takes some advanced preparation but it is well worth it because you will have another one of those days in the future and you will be ready for it this time.
First you must like, if not love coffee or think of a substitute you love like wine. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition or any issue that requires a doctors care you should not try this. Always check with your doctor first. You will need Epsom Salt, corn starch, instant coffee and dry dairy creamer of your choice.
In a bowl mix one half cup Epsom Salt, one cup corn starch, one cup of dry coffee creamer (can be flavored creamer if desired) and stir to mix well.
In a small bowl add one half cup instant coffee and smash to fine powder with the back of a spoon. When it is about the consistency of table salt add to the other bowl of ingredients and mix well. Put into a container that can be sealed, store at room temperature and preferably out of direct light.
You will need to pick up at least one three inch coffee scented candle (for those of you who are crafty you can make your own) and for maximum effect splurge on an inflatable bath pillow, they are not really as expensive as they use to be and much easier to find. Check out your local Super Store and they should be in the health and beauty aids section. You are basically set with your RX kit for the next “one of those days”.
Sure enough, here it comes, so you get out your RX kit. Put on a pot of your favorite coffee and add anything that suits your fancy like flavored creamers or flavored syrups or even a Little Kahla, inflate your pillow, fill the tub with comfortably warm water pouring in at least a cup of your milk bath mixture, light your coffee candle put on some great music and don’t forget to turn off the lights. Climb in and soak.
I do not recommend reading in this state of mind but, if you must you must. I prefer closing my eyes and humming to the music. You should not stay in the tub for more than thirty minuets but boy what a time out.
Now for all of you that just don’t find coffee your thing and are trying wine. When you mix up your bath mixture substitute one packet of grape or berry cool aid mix, the small packets with out sugar added (too much will leave you a bit purple or red) and pick up a Merlot candle or two and have a great glass of wine as you soak. You know, that sounds great for the summer months even though I am a coffee-aholic! Cheers!
