3 Secret Ways To De-Stress Using Candles
By Ellen Norman
1) AROMATHERAPY:
Candles as a part of aromatherapy calm everyone in the
general environment.
The scents of the candles are extremely calming like
lavender, vanilla, and rose scents.
The lemons or citrus, “fresh linen”, “grassy scents will
give you a gentle uplift without over stimulation.
In the bathroom a candle is better than an air freshener.
This is great for the guest bathroom or when company is
expected.
Candles on a “warming plate “do not need such close
supervision as an open flame, again a de-stressor for some
all by it self. You get the scent with the worries.
2) MOOD LIGHTING:
Candles make the perfect mood lighting, because it
is subdued and gentle on the eyes. The colors of candles
are wonderful too, the soft yellow, light blue, light green
and soft rose. They also go well with lots of different
decors.
When you get home from work light a few candles while you
eat your dinner, the food will taste better and digest
better because you are calmer.
Use candles while you read, in addition to your regular
lamp (we don’t want to “stress your eyes” any more then
usual), during quiet mediation and while doing light chores
around the house, this brings calm and relaxation in to
your environment.
A small tea candle in a nice container will relax you to
sleep and will burn out after you are gently asleep.
3) ROOM DCOR:
Candles in groupings are fantastic de-stressors.
Besides being and instant dcor changer.
Using candles along with a water feature is an added bonus.
By using different sizes in an arrangement, this brings
out your personal creativity. True you can buy arrangements
already made but you lose the creative personal touch.
Bought arrangements are good as gifts for instance.
Changing the candle displays every so often gives on a
feeling of growth and comfort as well as something to look
forwards to. All this increases calmness and purpose,
eliminating stress.
